UGC Aug 31, 2015

So you’ve mastered the <a href="" target"_blank">secret sauce and you’re ready to invest in a campaign. Woah there, friend. There are a few things we should talk about first...

There is no one size fits all in the world of Instagram campaigns, and it is crucial to focus on your brand's unique needs when tailoring one.

So, what are those needs?

To make things easier, I’ve put together a list of the four most common requirements we’ve seen while working with brands, along with the campaign strategies that are most effective for each.

TIP: Don’t be afraid to mix strategies. You will be much more effective in reaching your goals with a combined effort.

Let’s get started.

Top 4 Brand Needs

######1. Growing Your Followers

Content may be king, and you are right to be spending time curating a beautiful Instagram feed. However, that effort can be for naught if you don't have a healthy and growing follower base. When looking to grow your numbers, be sure to take a look at the following strategies.

Influencer Campaigns: Don’t wait for your followers to come to you - go get them. Choose an Instagrammer that is right for your campaign, become a part of their feed by running a campaign or promotion, and have all eyes suddenly on you. People will start paying attention, you get positive, organic association, and the influencer's followers are likely to check you out and follow if they dig.

Influencer Takeovers: Take things to the next level by working with influencers to have them curate your feed for a set period of time. Just recently, we ran a number of campaigns where influencers managed a brand's feed for seven straight days. Fans of the influencer will follow you in efforts to keep up with their favorite social media guru, and you will be one step closer to the inner circle. In the world of influencer marketing, trust and authenticity are central, and this is a great way to go about getting both.

2. Creating Beautiful Content

Content will make you or break you. Having a beautiful, aesthetically pleasing feed is one of the easiest ways to get people engaged. In reality, it's a pre-requisite for success on Instagram. In addition to these 4 easy ways to create beautiful content, user-generated content (UGC) should be central to your strategy.

UGC: One of the easiest and most effective ways to have a supply of amazing content is to look at who’s tagging or mentioning you in their posts and to repurpose those photos. You get great content, and it makes your fans feel loved and appreciated. Don't forget the tag and shoutout.

3. Launching a Brand or Product

Soooo, the time has come to get the word out on your new collection or collab. To ensure a successful launch, posts must be properly timed and carefully executed. Grabbing Instagram’s full attention will take some planning. Pay attention.

Contests: Kick things off and create some serious engagement with a good old fashioned contest. There are many ways to do this - your options are limitless, but make sure that your offerings are suited towards your target audience. As an example, a general contest would require users to follow, tag friends in a post, or share a post to be eligible to win.

TIP: Have users create a post featuring your product with a specific hashtag or mention and, like magic, you’ve got an instant source of UGC. Beautiful content that you can repurpose.

Influencer Campaigns and Take Overs: A solution that can work on its own or in tandem with a contest to help get your name or product in front of the right audiences. We recommend sponsoring 10 posts across 5-10 influencers to maximize your chance of reaching the same potential customer multiple times.

4. Driving Sales

The ultimate goal: the bottom line. Before you get started, be sure to check out these 6 ways to drive sales on Instagram. Great campaign strategies that focus on driving sales include the distribution of promo codes and the creation of shoppable influencer posts.

Promo Codes: Provide users with a gentle nudge to buy with a promo code. It’s as simple as it sounds. Once you’ve created your code and set it up through your online payment system, include the code in your campaign posts and boost those sales. Everyone likes a deal, and it's easy to track conversion.
