Happy Holidays 2019 From the DH Fam!

It's the most wonderful time of the year, as they say. So while sleigh bells ring and visions of sugarplums dance through your heads, we thought we'd reminisce on the epic year that just went by and share our best personal moments with you. It's one of our favorite traditions, here at DH.

So grab yourself a spiked eggnog, throw on some festive jams, nestle up by the fire, and read about what some of our team members have been up to outside of work this past year. 🎄

Happy Holidays from, Operations

Thomas Rankin, Co-founder & CEO

Number 1 is always spending time with my two girls, with the highlight of every day getting tackled as I come in the door from work. BUT, this year I got a chance to live out my boyhood dream of seeing Manchester United play at Old Trafford. Basically transformed into a 14-year-old for two days. Moments like that are rare.

Mallory Harnish, People & Org Manager

2019, cheers to you. 🥂
Seeing Travis Scott with my sisters was one for the books—I couldn’t leave it out. But my highlight was hitting the slopes in Chamonix with some incredible people. There’s nothing that beats a good day of skiing finished off with an Aperol Spritz 3,295m up.

Grace Gibson, Admin Assistant

2019 was a memorable year for sure! I graduated university, moved to Halifax, and started working with Dash Hudson—all of which have been very exciting. To add to these great things, I had the opportunity to take my mom to England for her birthday, which was definitely my highlight of the year. Nothing could beat walking around London and living out all our favourite Hugh Grant movies. ✨

Julie Meredith, Senior Director of Marketing

Over the last year, I've been lucky enough to travel to some very cool places, but my fav trip of 2019 was only a 5 hour drive away. My husband and I camped and hiked all around Cape Breton Island last July, and one of the highlights of the trip was coming across a herd of roaming cows and calves in Chéticamp, who adorably circled our vehicle while mooing curiously. At the same time, there was an incredible sunset, and I managed to snag this dreamy Instagram photo. ❤️ 🌅

Michaela Atkinson, Head of Content

2019 was one wild ride. I probably racked up more airline points than any other year so far, and got to visit several new places (Vail, Austin, Palm Springs, Bologna, and Cinque Terre to name a few)! My job was the reason I got to experience many of these destinations this year, as well as how I found myself leading a workshop at the Girlboss Rally in June. I love public speaking, so this was a major highlight for me (I’m still pinching myself). After such a busy 365 days, I’m most looking forward to relaxing with friends and family over the holidays and gearing up to do it all again (in some new locales) in 2020. Welcome to a new decade, friends.

Maggie Hickey, Director of Partnerships

2019 was a year of adventure, growth, and time spent with family and friends. Amongst many happy memories, welcoming my newest niece, Brooklyn Gray, tops the charts. Can’t wait to see what 2020 has to offer. 🔮

Gillian Proudfoot, Product Marketing Manager

Another special year in the books! A highlight of 2019 for my husband and I, was taking our very first vacation after eight years together. Ten days in Portugal was unforgettable and one pastel de nata per day is never a bad idea. 😉

Kelsey Skinner, Marketing & Events Coordinator

Okay so, it happened again—this year flew by. I feel like so many amazing things happened along the way, so I’m going to try and keep it short. First, I got another kitty (yay!). Her name is Luna. Second, my boyfriend and I both graduated from university. And lastly, I started working full-time at Dash Hudson. So I guess you could say it’s been a pretty great year. I couldn’t have done any of this without my close friends, my family, and of course, my DH fam. ❤️

Jillian Bulmer, Marketing Coordinator

2019 was my sister's year. 💖 I watched my sister achieve not one, not two, but three of her major goals! Walking across the stage earning her CPA, landing her dream job, and marrying her best friend—despite a category two hurricane raining down on her day and throwing a tree on our parent's car! 2019 was memorable, to say the least, and I can't wait to see what 2020 brings.

Jillian Bulmer

Gillian Gamble, Marketing Intern

There were so many highlights of 2019 from ringing in the New Year under the Eiffel Tower and memories made with family and friends. And of course, the opportunity to work with the DH Fam! ❤️

2019 was full of travel—many highs but as always... the occasional low. My favourite memory from 2019 was actually a travel low that turned into an impromptu weekend getaway with friends. Due to cancelled flights, I was stuck in LA for a weekend in March. Luckily my good friend and her husband were in town (hi Heaths! ❤️ 👋🏻). We spent the weekend exploring the city and ended it off with a sunset Malibu.

Chelsea Brown, Senior Customer Success Representative

2019 was a busy year full of travel and spending time with friends. A highlight was the amazing surprise party my parents threw me for my 30th birthday—a night I’ll always remember. 💕

Emily MacKinnon, Senior Customer Success Representative

Summer of 2019 was definitely one for the books! Between family vacations, cottage weekends with the girls, music festivals, and more, I couldn’t have asked for a better season. So long as I’m near the beach, I’m one happy gal!! 😊 ✨🌊

Emily MacKinnon

Rebecca Jobe, Customer Success Manager

2019 was a whirlwind of a year, but my highlight was marrying my soulmate in late September. 💕 After an unforgettable bachelorette party in Nashville, a four day wedding weekend spent with family & friends, and a honeymoon spent in Positano with my new hubby, we are excited for a relaxing 2020 as a married couple! 🤗

Alison Chan, Customer Success Representative

2019 was full of positive change—both in my professional and personal life. I’m so grateful for the new experiences and lessons learnt throughout the year. Self. Reflection. Was. Key. ✨

Kayla Hoolwerf, Customer Success Representative

I spent approx an hour scrolling through my photos to try and find my fav memory from 2019 and more or less decided it's impossible. 🤷‍♀️ BUT here's a few top contenders: Visiting with my bestie in Ottawa and watching her say yes-to-the-dress, travelled all the way to Australia (thanks to DH) and not getting bit by any spiders or snakes, crossed off my bucket-list wish of seeing Michael Bublé in concert, and if I absolutely HAD to pick a number one, went on a four-hour kayak with my bf where we paddled from the lake in our back yard all the way to the ocean! 🌊

Kayla Hoolwerf

Caitlin Friars, Customer Success Representative

I would have to say that my most memorable times in 2019 were traveling to 17 new cities (mostly in southern America 🤠), being a bridesmaid at my best friends wedding, 👗 and buying my first condo.🏡 P.S. I also saw Ariana Grande.

Caitlin Friars

Kelly Bourque, Customer Success Representative

2019 was definitely a year of change! I moved back home to Halifax after three years spent in Toronto. A highlight for me was definitely being able to spend every day around my best friends and family again (and of course, my dog). There are many things I will miss about the big city, like the fact no two days are the same. However, I am definitely an east coast kid at heart and am ready to take on Halifax in a new light and explore every inch of it in a different way.

Kelly Bourque

Taryn MacMillan, Customer Success Representative

2019 was definitely a memorable one! I spent it surrounded by friends and family, lots of traveling, and weekends at the cottage drinking sangria and wakeboarding.

Taryn MacMillan

Kylie Ito, Customer Success Representative

2019 has brought me both around the world and back to my new home here in Nova Scotia. My highlights reel includes traveling, spending time with my cousins at the cottage, trying to learn how to surf in the Atlantic with my best friends, and cheering on my roomies at the track. Bring on 2020!

Allie Boyle, Customer Success Representative

I started the New Year in Europe reuniting with my best friends and ended off 2019 on the other side of the world in Asia with those same friends. Spending time with loved ones, and my amazing Dash Hudson family made every day this year one to remember. ❤️

Meghan Henneberry, Customer Success Representative

2019 has been full of trips, adventures, family and friends. 💫 While there were definitely lots of highlights, the best would be to be joining the Dash Hudson family with my fluffy sidekick Penny. 💕🐶

Leith Rankin, Customer Success Representative

The highlight of 2019 was spending as much of the summer season as humanly possible on the water sailing and competing against my partner, and occasionally winning against him. 👬😊 Counting down the days till the boats hit the water in 2020. ⛵️

Lainie Smith, Product Manager

2019 was a year of new beginnings. 💕 I spent plenty of time with friends and family exploring both new and well-loved places. My biggest highlight was buying my little dream condo hours before taking off on our DH trip to Jamaica. 2019 is wrapping up perfectly cozying up with a real 🎄 and some fantastic new additions. 👨🏻😻

Jacob Pitcher, Associate Product Manager

I am still wondering what happened to 2019. This year pulled me in so many different directions, but it was defined by taking a leap of faith and landing on my feet. Barney and I are so grateful to be surrounded by such supportive friends and family, and couldn't be happier to now call Nova Scotia and DH "home"!

Eglit Väli, Associate Product Manager

It’s been a huge year of change! Moved across the Atlantic to Halifax to make sure my husband’s dreams come true. But look at that—my own dreams came true too thanks to DH! Besides that, we flipped two apartments, and I found my passion for real estate.

Sarah Dueweke, Software Developer

2019 was a huge year, for which I am so grateful. My partner and I bought our first house, adopted our sweet pup Huia, and got married in September! It’s been an incredible year full of love, shared with so many wonderful people.

Sarah Dueweke

Marlee Donnelly, Junior Software Developer

Well, it’s been a big year, to say the least. After getting to know Dash Hudson as an intern in the winter, the big highlight of my 2019 was graduating with a bachelor’s degree in computer science and then disappearing to Europe for a month to celebrate! Luckily for me, returning home meant returning to Dash Hudson too—I can’t wait to see what the year ahead will bring now that I’m an official member of the DH family.

Marlee Donnelly

Lizzy Brown, Product Intern

There were two big highlights for me in 2019. 💫 I started my amazing year-long internship position here at Dash Hudson, and I got the chance to really fall in love with the East Coast this summer. The majority of my summer was spent by the water, campfire pits, and traveling away just about every other weekend exploring the coast. City girl no more! 🙅‍♀️

Happy Holidays from, Brand Strategy

Danica Calderhead, Director of Brand Strategy

This year was filled with good fortune, lot's of travel, many laughs, and the realization that in 2020 we'll be trading in Friday Happy Hour with 5 am wake-up calls. My husband and I are thrilled to be expanding our family. 💕

Danica Calderhead

Michelle Belcic, VP Brand Strategy

Joining the DH Fam this year was a definite highlight for me this year. As my travel schedule picked up, it was even sweeter to come home to our home outside the (NY) city. We welcomed a dozen baby chicks to our backyard and spent the year feeding them worms, letting them out for walks, and getting to enjoy the freshest eggs ever.

Hannah Graham, Corporate Strategy Manager

The highlight of my 2019 year was marrying my best friend in the most beautiful place, surrounded by the most amazing group of family and friends. 2020, you’ve got a lot to live up to! ✨

Nick Finley, Brand Strategist

2019 has been one of my best years ever! I love my work family, I feel closer to my family-family, and my best friend asked me to marry him. What more could a guy want!?

Jessica Hooper, Brand Strategist

2019 was a year of growth and adventure. Going to Jamaica with my work fam and taking my first solo trip to San Francisco were two unforgettable trips. Really looking forward to everything 2020 will bring! 🙌

Jessica Hooper

Melissa McKenna, Brand Strategist

The highlight of 2019 for me was turning 30 and gifting myself a solo trip to Japan to celebrate! It’s hard to beat the new experiences gained from travel, looking forward to more adventures in 2020.

Jordan Steele, Brand Strategist

My highlight of 2019 was spending two weeks in Maui, my favourite place! ☀️ I'm already counting down the days until I can go back!

Jordan Steele

Barb Cameron, Brand Strategist

From being crowned the Halifax Burger Week Ambassador and sharing the stage with The Trews, to eating intestine tacos in Mexico City and starting a new job at Dash Hudson, 2019 was a year full of highlights! Bring it on, 2020!

Happy Holidays from, Demand Generation

Laura Park, Director of Demand Generation / Head of Data

My highlight of 2019 was traveling to South Korea for the FIRST time ever with my dad and two sisters. It was amazing to explore my roots and visit the places my parents had travelled together in 2015. The most magical days were spent visiting my paternal grandparents’ burial site (the closest I’ve ever been to meeting them 💕) and walking down my dad’s memory lane in his hometown, Busan. The next best thing about Korea? All of the delicious food and skincare shops everywhere you look.

Michelle Jones, Team Lead

2019 has been one of adventure and growth. ✨ Among it, all my biggest highlight was the addition of our new fluffy family member, who will be turning one on New Years Eve. 💞🐶

Scott Carroll, Sales Development Representative

2019 was all about changes, resulting in lessons learned and growing up. I’ve become an uncle of 2 and welcomed so many new people into my life over the year (including my Dash Hudson fam). Here’s to another trip around the sun. ☀️

Scott Carroll

Monique Pellerin, Sales Development Coordinator

I spent 2019 surrounded by the most amazing friends and family, and every year that passes, I only become more grateful for the people in my life. I made so many fun memories this year—from weekend getaways, seeing my favourite artist Ariana Grande in NYC, getting to the beach as much as possible and joining the DH Fam… I am so ready to see what 2020 will bring!
