In this digital day and age, it feels like the ones in charge of the coolest brand images out there are almighty creatures that have some form of crazy superpowers. Spoiler alert: these completely fascinating people are actual humans and they hone their digital media sixth sense on the daily for some really rad companies, making them major brand MVPs. Turns out brains and an eye for beautiful things is a killer combo.
We wanted to know more about these ultra-compelling behind-the-scenes characters, so we're tapping some of our favorite digital editors to let us in on what their lives are like to fulfill all of our voyeuristic tendencies (don't lie, yours too).
First post of 2016! And it is very fitting indeed that it should be a Q&A with the one and only Rachel Schwartzmann.
It's always incredibly refreshing to see young ambitious women taking charge of their path by forging one that is tailor-made for where they want to be headed. That kind of determination is not as common as it should be, and thankfully, there are girls like Rachel who can pave the way for those who are less fearless.
She's the one behind The Style Line, a website dedicated to all things fashion and style, a place to learn, to discover, to share and be part of an inclusive creative community, which extends to all social media platforms. The site is a labor of love: she runs it in every capacity, including the wonderful Instagram account.
She proves that the sky is the limit, so long as you have a vision, aren't afraid of hard work, hold on tight to determination and never forget to have fun along the way. Pretty great way to kick off our 2016 season, amirite? Get to know Rachel below!
Name and occupation: Rachel Schwartzmann, Founder and CEO of The Style Line LLC.
1. What was your college major, and why did you choose it?
Advertising and Marketing Communications - It seemed like the perfect opportunity to combine my interests in writing, branding and community-building.
2. Favorite part of the job?
At this point my job is all encompassing and though it’s difficult at times, I think this has become one of my favorite elements. If you’re heavily involved in every “department” or aspects of your brand it really keeps you sharp and aware of room for improvement and other pertinent opportunities.
3. Favorite social media platform and why?
The Style Line originally got its start on tumblr so I owe a lot of our success to this platform - one that really prides itself on community. Though I have to admit Instagram is definitely a go-to. I have been able to cultivate so many relationships and connections both personally and professionally. There’s really no denying Instagram’s global reach and with that, the possibilities are truly endless.
4. Three things you can’t live without?
Phone charger, Tic Tacs and an unlimited Metro Card!
5. What’s on your travel bucket list?
Funnily enough I’m just finishing up my 2015 resolution of traveling to a different city every month in the U.S. and I’m proud to say I’ve delivered! With that said I’d love to scale back and really plan some lengthier trips abroad later in 2016. Destinations include (but are definitely not limited to): Vancouver, London, Paris and Stockholm.
6. Who’s your style icon?
Emma Watson. She embodies modern elegance and I strive to attain that sense of ease in my life and style. (Though it’s a work in progress for sure!)
7. Biggest vice? (be honest)
Spending too much money on coffee - every day? My biggest vices usually involve over indulging in anything related to food.
8. Where can we find you on a Friday night?
Depends on the night! I try to take things day by day, though I can’t deny my love for Netflix.
